According to a Northwestern University study, the ability to “buy” contracts on candidates Barack Obama and John McCain led to the correct prediction that Obama would win the presidency.
But strong political bias threatens the way a trader makes intelligent trades.

Google trends gives a good indication of which candidate will win an election, and this strategy worked as far as predicting the US elections was concerned. It remains to be seen whether Google will also be able to predict other election results.
